Supa Ty i

SUPA-TY

SDB caught up with Supa-Ty and chopped it up about the man, the
music and the newest project, 'Unsigned Hype vol.2' Enjoy
!!

* Thanks for
takin time to talk wit us. We gotta let these people know whats
really good with Supa-Ty, but first, how you been fam? Heard y'all
gettin a lot of snow out there ?

What’s good and thanks for having me, as for the snow it’s really
intense, the blizzard of 2010, over 36 inches and more to come.

* We'll send you some this great Cali
weather! So give us a lil background about the man behind the
artist they call 'Supa-Ty'?

The man behind Supa-Ty is no different from the artist. I’m very
calm and confident and always open to ideas, A college graduate but
street smart and savvy at the same time. I have never been the one
to judge others only encourage as everybody deserves a chance.

* Now you originally came up in a group
of artists, correct? Or have you always been on the solo tip
??

I actually came up in a group called Original Minds which I’m still
apart of. The members include myself, Magnum Dollar$ & Von
Finesse, a group project is in the works but for the time being we
all been on the solo tip.

* Word, shouts to everyone! Run us thru
your discography and let them know where we can peep the
work.

Since I started I have been on various projects and put out some of
my own. My First project was called Life’s Struggles followed by
the following: Mold Of A Man Hosted By Dj Ophax, From NY To MD
Hosted By Dj Ophax, Unsigned Hype Hosted By Dj Sincere, and Three
Stages of Art:

* Now there has been a lot of buzz around
"Unsigned Hype vol.2", mostly anticipation as we've been waiting
for this for some time now. Some even were comparing it to Dre's
"Detox" or a Cash Money album. Explain to us the preparation on
this project versus the others?

Compared to Detox and The Carter is really a blessing and a hell of
an honor. The unsigned hype series is a 3 mixtape project and
volume 2 compared to the others was a work in the was done on a
different approach. I started working on Vol 2 in July of '09 with
the idea of giving underground and unsigned artist a chance to be
heard. The preparation was a long and hard process, from finding
artist and producers to work with as well as the concept itself was
time consuming.

* Well, the patience definitely paid off!
Now, although you have your own unique style, Who are your musical
inspirations?

I have always been inspired by great artist like KRS One, 2Pac,
Common, Mos Def, Big Daddy Kane, Notorious B.I.G, Jaz Z and Rakin
to name a few. There are plenty more but those are the tops on my
list.

* When Did you 1st start
rapping?

I started Rapping in 1998 at the age of 15

* How, if at all, did your family/friends
encourage or support you?

My biggest supports were my Mom and Dad, they have always had my
back and encouraged me to do what made me happy and it’s still the
same today. Friends have always been there for me telling me never
give up and don’t let what others say to you affect what you are
doing. The love and support from family and friends is what’s
keeping me going.

* Anyone else in your family, "musically
gifted"?

My nephew Kendrick aka Young Hitta is an up and coming artist, and
my cousin Tempest aka Jordan raps also.

* Where would you most like to
perform?

I have always wanted to perform in Cali and New York, what better
way to show the world what you can do.

* Get them Coasts lock down n let the
music spread! Who would you most like to open
for?

I would like to open for Ludacris, he bring so much every with
everything he does that I would love to be the opening act to get
the crowd worked up for the main event.

* DTP, we gonna have to try and get them
on the show. Now, what are your thoughts on today’s Hip Hop game,
culture and where do u see it headed?

Music today especially rap is not where is should be. I feel that
it’s not living up to it’s name at times and a lot of artist today
couldn’t hold their own in the early-late 90’s due to the their
non-lyrical capabilities. I’m not knocking what others do but a
change is needed and I feel it will come in due time.

* Church! And it starts with Supa-Ty!
Aight, we gonna flip it a bit...If you could chill wit 1 person in
the world, for a day, who'd it be and why?

If I was to chill with anyone it would be Alicia Keys, I have so
mush respect for her as a person and artist, plus she makes great
music and does so much for people in need

* Not bad to look at either, lol just
sayin. So what kind of music do you most listen to
today?

I listen to whatever sounds good, rap, r&b, gospel, jazz, soul,
oldies ect…

* Nice eclectic mix! Any embarrassing or
un-usual music we might find on your mp3 player or in the
ride?

No embarrassing or unusual music but I do have some Cold Play and
Avril Lavigne in rotation.

* If you weren't making music, what would
you see yourself doing?

That’s a good question, I can picture myself being a chef as I have
skills in the kitchen.

* Yeadat! Save me a plate homie, we on
our way! Any Hidden talents or secrets you'd like to
share?

Lol I do have some skills on the court and a little acting as
well.

* Aight fam,
that'll about do it, thanks again for talkin wit us, before we get
into the new mixtape, go ahead and blast ya crew, throw up ya links
where people can find you and get in contact with
you.
